Why Integrate RFID?
Why are people adopting RFID-integrated solutions?
RFID provides visibility where there is none.
RFID provides “ears” for a computer, much like bar coding provides “eyes.” Like ears (and unlike bar coding) Radio Frequency readers can process enormous amounts of stimuli simultaneously with great accuracy. The tag tells the computer exactly what or who is being identified and where that item is located. There are different ways this can be configured, but the point is the same. This provides critical data where and when it’s needed with minimal human intervention.
RFID does not require a direct line of sight or human involvement to manually enter data. Why enter inventory item-by-item when you can read a whole shipment virtually instantaneously, and then push that data to where it’s needed automatically?
RFID streamlines processes, improves workflow, prevents many types of errors, improves worker productivity, reduces costs, improves customer satisfaction and provides a means to monitor and automate reporting on various types of compliance.
RFID solutions are becoming a necessity in many industries. The rapidly reducing cost of tags and increasing efficiency and accuracy of the technologies are enabling just about any organization to integrate RFID with their currently existing systems. This allows them to lower their operating costs while improving processes. Another key adoption driver is the layer of error resistance RFID solutions provide.
