A Q-wrx Case Study in Quality IT Processes for Regulatory Compliance
Our previous blog post introduced Q-wrxSM, Dynamic’s innovative approach to IT supply and services. Q-wrx is especially used by our customers to help comply with IT regulatory and quality demands. Now we’d like to share with you a real-world example of Q-wrx in action.
This particular Q-wrx customer is the CIO for the government contracting arm of a FORTUNE 50 health insurance and information systems company. In recent years he has seen his division’s responsibilities steadily grow. Then came the Affordable Care Act – and even greater demands on the CIO’s staff. Pressure was particularly strong for the division’s desktop engineering team.
As the CIO recently told us: “We support users of government-provided health insurance from about 20 locations nationwide. At every site, our desktop hardware and software must be configured exactly alike. The information on them must be tightly secured.”
This, per the CIO, involves a much more complicated workstation set-up than a typical commercial PC. Suppliers to the U.S. government must adhere to federal desktop configuration standards. All systems must be scanned and scored, to strict specifications, for risk of vulnerability to internal and external threats. Federal measurements of a health IT provider’s quality management systems are exceptionally rigorous.
Regulated Market Know-how
IT compliance is critical, yet the CIO could see that his desktop team was spending more time than they could realistically afford on the very specific details of quality control.
“The ACA is changing our IT infrastructure needs,” he said, “and we need our desktop engineers to focus on desktop engineering. What’s the path to Windows 10? What will we do for auto-install? How can we deliver faster, better, and with less cost? It’s hard for our engineers to focus on these priorities when they also need to attend to the nitty-gritty of documenting our quality procedures.”
The CIO found expert help from Dynamic Computer Corporation. For nearly 20 years of our 35-plus years in business, we have served customers in regulated markets, including health IT.
“Dynamic has long been our go-to resource for servers,” he said. “They’ve performed flawlessly on these procurements. And I knew that Dynamic provides desktop imaging and configuration support for medical device manufacturers. That’s also a highly regulated environment with similar challenges as ours. So I felt confident that Dynamic could help us with our workstation set-ups and other IT quality needs too.”
The customer has contracted with Dynamic for a custom Q-wrx package of proprietary IT configuration and asset management processes. Services include system imaging, product testing, inventory management, enhanced security, IT lifecycle management, refurbishing and disposal of return systems, record retention, and more.

Dynamic also provides the customer with a secure web portal for tracking inventory, placing orders, and processing invoices. In fact, the generic Q-wrx description in our previous post fits closely to this customer’s Q-wrx package from end to end.
Covered All Around
“Standards compliance? Check. Quality compliance? Check. Security compliance? Check. Q-wrx has us covered all around,” said the CIO.
He added, “Dynamic has tailored their services to our business, and they’ve executed to the letter. We’re very quality-driven ourselves. Having a supplier who speaks the same quality language as us is music to our ears.”
